What's in this package:
=======================

Inside "Dilwyn's original file" is dstheql.zip - while this can be opened with a Windows-based archiving program of your choice if you want to examine the contents, IT IS NOT DESIGNED FOR THAT. Absolutely, definitely, DO NOT copy or write anything into it or all the headers will be lost! This is a QL-format .ZIP file designed to function as a virtual microdrive cartridge in a QL emulator that can handle it - such as a registered copy of QemuLator, or QPC2. If you have a registered QemuLator, this file is all you'll need - it contains the original version of the game, the compiled version, and the supporting Quill document.

Inside "Jim's additional material" is the following:
- A folder called "dsqlfiles" which contains the contents of the original .ZIP, and which can be loaded into an *unregistered* copy of QemuLator, for those of you who are merely curious. The SuperBASIC version will run very slowly, though.
- A .MDV microdrive image, dstheql.mdv, which is designed to work with registered QemuLator - and with QLAY, if you're stuck with that dusty old relic.
- Dilwyn's original Quill documentation for the game, translated into a PC-readable text file. It's encoded in UTF-8 so that the arrow characters can be included.
- Instructions on how to load the Quill document, if you want the proper QL experience.
- Generic "QL loading instructions for noobs" - which I provide with all my own QL programs. This one is slightly more tricky as there's a compiled version included as well as the original SuperBASIC, but see below for what to do.
- More detailed "Loading instructions and recommended settings" for those who are still having trouble getting it working.

To load the game (if you still can't work it out from Dilwyn's instructions):
- Insert the format of your choice into the emulator of your choice in microdrive 1 (see the "generic instructions for noobs" if you need to).
- Launch the QL in TV mode for best results.
- Type: lrun mdv1_dstheql_bas to load the SuperBASIC version, or...
- Type: exec mdv1_dstheql_task to load the compiled version.

If you have trouble with the compiled version, see the "Loading instructions and recommended settings" text file inside "Jim's additional material", which provides instructions on how to get it working in QPC2, which I have tried to make so easy that even a VICE "journalist" who refuses to #learntocode could follow.
